What do low postprandial levels indicate?

Q: I am a 54 years old man having blood glucose readings - fasting 104 mg/dl and postprandial (PP) 100 mg/dl. What are the implications if the PP reading is lower than that the fasting reading?

A:At times PP blood sugar can be lower than fasting. It is usually due to excessive response of pancreas to food intake by producing more insulin than required, at times blood sugar may be very low to produce symptom of Hypoglycaemia. Such cases are more prone to develop Diabetes. Treatment of this is to take small meals more often.
