What do calcium oxalate crystals in the urine indicate?
Q: What does it mean if one passes crystals of calcium oxalate through urine along with traces of protein? Can this lead to major problems? What is the remedy? What does the term SG stands for?
A:Calcium oxalate crystals on microscopic examination of urine are a normal finding, and have no correlation with stone formation at all. Presence of trace of proteins may also be normal, but may require further testing with microalbuminuria, and a spot urinary protein creatinine ratio before giving you a 100% assurance that everything is normal.
