What diet I should follow to bring down the potassium level?

Q: I am a 45 years old man and had a kidney transplant ten years ago. Six months back I suffered a borderline rejection episode; it was an anti-bodies attack and was treated for the same. During the recent check-up potassium level was found high i.e. 5.8. What diet I should follow to lower it? Currently I am on a low protein diet and no salt. Please advise.

A:The foods rich in potassium are dried fruits, fresh fruits, chocolates and chocolate drinks like Bournvita, coconut water, nuts and cool drinks. Make sure that complete salt restriction is correct as Potassium and Sodium (salt) balance each other. The prescription given by the doctor should be understood well.
