What causes recurrent abortions in early pregnancy?
Q: My sister-in-law, aged 28 years, had some gynae problem which she has been facing since 9 years. She aborts every time before entering the third month. Just before aborting she gets severe stomach pain. Sir, can she give birth to a child and could you please tell what may be the problem? At the age of 15 to 17, she suffered from apendicitis and was operated for it. Could you please help.
A:She is having repeated abortions in early pregnancy. Appendicictomy is not the cause for it. She should get some specialized blood investigations - like TORCH, Anti-phospholipids, Anti-cardiolipin antibodies (ACA), VDRL, glucose tolerance test (GTT), and few genetic profiles to find the cause of the abortions so that it can be treated. She should get the treatment before planning next conception.
