Should I stay away from my dentist practice till my pregnancy?
Q: I am a 31-year-old dentist and I am 5 months pregnant. I am still working, though I am not exposing myself to the x-ray. What other precautions do I have to take? Can I do silver mixing and light cure fillings. I also have severe lower back pain and have vaginal pain only at night. I am not having sex with my husband. What is the reason for this pain? What precautions should I take when I am working? Should I take rest?
A:It is wise to stay away from dental x-ray exposure throughout pregnancy. No other dentistry professional activity has a radiation or toxicity hazard. The backache could be for a variety if reasons including vaginal infection, bad posture, nutritional deficiency etc. It would be useful to visit your gynaecologist for a thorough recheck.
