Pregnancy - hypothyroidism
Q: I am 27 years old and suffering from Thyroidism. My Thyroid level is 6.4 & having 25 mg Eltroxin. How long will it take to cure? Can I plan to have a baby?
A:People suffering from hypothyroidism can safely plan a pregnancy once they have achieved normal thyroid status on medication. During pregnancy they require close monitoring by an endocrinologist to adjust their dose as often there is an increase in dose requirement; however, pregnancy outcomes are comparable to normal if thyroid (TSH) levels are maintained within normal range.
