Is vaginal discharge normal during pregnancy?
Q: I am a 27 years old woman who had a miscarriage in the 6th week of pregnancy but now I am carrying again and in the 5th month of pregnancy. My doctor had placed Mc Donald stitches two days ago but now I am having some white sticky discharge. Is it normal?
A:Some minimal vaginal discharge, that is clear and not foul smelling is normal after the cervical stitch. If there are any changes, it has to be checked out by swab culture or smear with gram stain and microbiologic testing, followed by local or oral antibiotics, if necessary. The stitch will need to be removed at 38th week, or when patient goes into labour.
