Q: I am a 25 years old man who had an accident 1.7 years back. In this accident I lost my vision from the left eye and the doctor said that I have an optic nerve problem. The treatment for this problem is not available in India. So, I am taking ayurvedic treatment for the same. Is there any treatment for my problem?

A:Optic nerve is not like any other nerve of the body. It is a part of the brain. So once optic nerve is damaged, it is impossible to reverse it by any means. It also cannot be transplanted. I would advise to reconcile to the fact, and have periodic eye check ups. Please do visual fields of the other eye, as you had an injury, even though its vision is good.
