Is there any treatment for Adie’s pupil in the eye?

Q: I am a 27 years old woman having blurred vision in my left eye especially while seeing nearby objects. The doctor said that I have a dilated fixed pupil in the left eye. I have normal vision through pinhole and normal conduction of optic nerve pathway in both the eyes and it is confirmed through visual evoked potential (VEP). I was then diagnosed with Adie's pupil and was told that there was no treatment. Kindly note that I breastfeed my 3 months old baby. Can this syndrome be related to breastfeeding? What should I do?

A:No this syndrome is nothing to do with breastfeeding. Nobody knows the precise cause of Adie's pupil, which is associated with dilated pupil due to damage to the nerve behind the eye as well as loss of ankle tendon's reflex. Birth trauma is a likely possibility.

Apart from slight blurring of vision for close work, and unequal looking pupil it does not cause any problem and nothing needs to be done about it at all.
