Is the eye colour indicative of any health problem?
Q: My child is a month old and seems to have grey-blue eyes. Both my husband's and my eyes are brown in colour and no one in the family has grey-blue eyes. Does this indicate any problem with my child's eye?
A:Newborn babies often have not developed enough pigment in the intra ocular structures at birth. Hence, the baby's eyes may be grey-blue at birth. The pigment will develop over 2-4 months. If his eyes continue to be grey after this period, a review by an ophthalmologist is advisable.
