Q: I am a 26 years old female suffering from hypothyroidism. I am taking 125 ug of Thyroxin. I have a year old baby and my doctor asked me to stop breast-feeding him because of the drugs I am taking. Is it not advisable to breast feed while being on Thyroxin?

A:You can very easily to breast feed your baby even if you are on Thyroxin. Very little is secreted through the milk to the baby, however, you can have your baby's thyroid profile done and if it is normal, you can continue to breast feed.
