Is it possible for a lactating woman to conceive?
Q: My wife had a normal delivery and had her periods in the next month. However, there were no periods since then. Now the baby is 4 months old and lactation is taking place. Is it possible to conceive in the absence of periods? Is it possible to calculate safe-periods in the absence of menses? Is it medically okay to get abortion if conceived for a lactating mother? What are the adverse health impact for the baby for such an abortion carried out?
A:Yes it is very possible to conceive while lactating and it is safe to get aborted if the pregnancy is not desired. Some times a decision to continue the pregnancy and have the second baby is a wiser one even though the pregnancy was unplanned - however, the decision rests entirely with the couple whether they want only one child or more.
