Is it okay to take Fefol-Z during pregnancy?
Q: My friend is taking Fefol-Z (iron tablet) as prescribed by her doctor. She is pregnant now. I was told that a good iron tablet should not be attracted by magnet. Is it true? I tried testing and Fefol-Z was getting attracted by magnet while another iron tablet was not. Can you please clarify my doubt?
A:Iron for oral consumption is not in the elemental form but as fumarate, sulphate, succinate, gluconate, glycine, ammonium citrate, sorbital citric acid complex, etc. Magnetic testing is not the way to test quality. Fefol-Z spansule is a good, quality product with the added advantage that it contains folic acid, which is mandatory during pregnancy.
