Is it normal for an infant to have a sweaty head?

Q: My daughter is 4.5 months old and apparently healthy. Her weight at 4 months was 6.5 kg. Recently we have observed that her head is often very sweaty especially after meals. She is partially on mothers milk and lactogen. Please advise. She is also having some cold recently with choked nose.

A:Choked nose is not unusual at this age especially during this season. You can use saline nasal drops like nasoclear to relieve nasal stuffiness. Sweating of head in otherwise normal baby is acceptable, especially if baby is gaining weight. But you must get your baby checked by a paediatrician to find out if baby's breathing is normal and examination of heart is normal. But a baby weighing 6.5 kg at 4 months is very reassuring.
