Is it advisable to take Enalapril in place of Ramistar?

Q: I am a 33 years old man who takes Ramistar 2.5 mg regularly but during my foreign visits I exhausted the medicine., Due to sudden gastric troubles coupled with no medicines, my blood pressure shot up to 160/100 mmHg. I have got Enapril maleate 5 mg. Can I use Enapril instead of Ramistrar? Also, my colleague offered Ramistar 2.5 mg but the cover appears different to the one, which I used to take. Can you confirm if these are the same: Ramtisar 2.5 containing Ramipril 2.5 mg, Excipients - q.s. Please advise.

A:The mode of action, safety and efficacy of ramipril and enalapril is similar. However, dose adjustment may be required. The packing and strips are sometimes changed by the manufacturers; hence I see little problem in using the strip being offered by your friend provided it was bought from a regular chemist shop and bill was obtained.
