Is it advisable to abort one of the twins in the first trimester?
Q: My neice is 8 weeks pregnant and has twins and want to go for reduction of one as she already has a 4 year old boy. Is it safe for the other baby?
A:Reduction is not advised for twins, it is neither ethically correct nor medically advisable. The risk to the other twin is considerable especially if the operator is not very good. On the whole the risk to the other baby is more than the risk of carrying the twins, anyway it cannot be done as it is not ethically ok to abort one twin.
