Is Intra-uterine insemination a good infertility option?

Q: I am 26 years, my wife 24 years and we have been married for over 4 years now. We are trying to have a baby since last 2 years but in vain. Both of us got tested totally. My wife is OK but my sperm count is 30 million, motility 35% and 2-4% pus cells present. One doctor also told that I had a mild varicocoele on the left side and after getting operated it will be ok. I would also like to mention that we have been very irregular with the medicines that the doctors had prescribed but now we are serious and would like to know what are our chances and what medicines we need to take? Do we need to go in for artificial insemination or test tube baby?. I used to have Fertylm M long time back. As I am now shifting to Amritsar, please give the address of a good infertility clinic/hospital or doctor in that area who can solve our problem? Please advise as we are depressed.

A:Your semen analysis report is not really bad. You should try IUI for which you need to see a gynaecologist, who will do follicular monitoring of your wife to see the development of the egg. When the egg is ready, your semen will be taken, processed, and then injected in your wife's uterus. This may have to be done 5-6 six times. This is much cheaper than a test tube baby and much more natural. As you are still young, do not panic and let the test tube baby be the last resort. Meanwhile see a urologist in your town for your treatment. Fertylm is a good medicine. IUI can be done in Amritsar itself or you can come to Delhi, Gangaram Hospital, where IUI, test tube baby all can be done. Never forget that stress and depression can cause further decrease in your semen quality.
