Is a tooth cap necessary after root canal treatment?

Q: I got my root canal treatment done 6 months back but I have yet not put a cap to it. Will it cause any infection in my tooth?

A:After getting a root canal treatment you should get a cap put to avoid fracture of the tooth. Chances of re-infection because of not putting a cap are not present. The tooth will fracture if you do not put a cap on it.
