I am engaged but still having a relationship with my ex-boyfriend, what do I do?

Q: I am 24 years old. I am in a dilemma that has lead to depression. Please do suggest how I can come out of this problem. I fell in love with a guy in my final year when I was 20 and had an affair with him for 2 years till my family came to know of it. About 2 months later my parents received a proposal, which was liked by everyone but I continued my relationship. My family wanted me to meet this boy and I did feel attracted to him but he later ditched me. I continue to be engaged to him but I am still having a relationship with my ex-boyfriend whom I cannot marry as my family will not allow it. Please help me out of this mess and advise me what to do?

A:I believe that each person needs to think longitudinally, that is to see from a futuristic perspective in life. You need to see for yourself, that what are the pros and cons of this relationship, and would you be able to sustain this. Also there are several parameters of our life that are not in our hands, so we need not allow them to disturb us. You need to talk to a psychiatrist in person, and take guidance.
