How to treat Xanthelasma (yellowish spots around the eyes)?
Q: What is the cause of Xanthelasma (yellowish spots around the eyes). Is it a genetic problem or due to high lipids? I am a vegetarian with normal lipid level. What is the cure; can it be cured medically or I have to go for cosmetic surgery? If cosmetic surgey is the option, will the surgically cured area around the eyes match with the color of the rest of the face? I am 45 years old with high B.P. and presently on medication with BP stabilising around 140/90 mark. Please help.
A:Xanthelasma is lipid deposition which may be related to high lipids. The cosmetic surgery is the only option and kindly discuss it with your surgeon. It can be left alone as it does not cause any functional defect.
