How to manage retinopathy in children?
Q: My one and a half year old daughter is suffering from retinopathy of prematurity, 3 plus. She has undergone 3 sittings of laser therapy. After examination of eyes under anaesthesia, she has been diagnosed with myopia of -3 in both the eyes. She has now been advised to wear glasses. Will the vision deteriorate over a period of time or will it remain the same? Kindly advise.
A:Retinopathy of prematurity (R.O.P) needs constant monitoring even after laser treatment and she should be under the care of her eye surgeon. Myopia of -3.00 will definitely increase as the age advances but you should not worry about this.
