How to avoid risks of a complicated pregnancy?
Q: My wife is four months pregnant. The ultrasound scan revealed a normal foetus but the opening of uterus was found to be 2.8 cm. My wife has had two abortions in the past while the firts child was born normal. The doctors advised that the opening of the uterus be stitched to avoid any chances of early delivery. The stitches were made last week. After the operation, my wife was hospitalised for three days under bed rest and was advised a further bed rest at home for a week. (a) Please advise what are the likely complications out of the procedure and (b) Precautions to be taken to ensure normal pregnancy.
A:Your wife has had a cervical enceclage suture which is already in. She now needs to take it easy and avoid strenuous physical activity and sexual activity.
