Q: I am a 26 years old female trying to get pregnant from the last one year. I had two miscarriages this year. After that, I have been trying a lot to conceive. However, almost every month, I miss my period by 2 or 3 days and then bleeding starts. Initially the bleeding is very light, like spotting and then after one day it starts heavily. I want to get pregnant quickly. I am in Italy so I cannot consult anyone here and cannot talk to anyone. What should I do? Please help me.

A:You will need to be evaluated for previous two miscarriages, through blood test of Full blood count, urine culture, HIV, VDRL, Blood sugars, and thyroid function. If these are normal- then we will need to see by serial scans around days 10/11/13 and 14, if your ovary is having regular egg formation. If not, there is treatment for that with clomid and serial scan with timed coitus. If you also had D & C done in previous miscarriages, you will need to be evaluated for tubal patency with hysterosalpingography (HSG) before treating with Clomid. Your chances of pregnancy improve after cause of miscarriage is found and treated, and if not found cause for subsequent infertility found and treated.
