How can severe cough during pregnancy be managed?
Q: I am a 32 years old woman into my eight month of pregnancy. I got severe throat infection 15 days back and I took Phexin (375 mg) for 4 days. I used salt water for gargling. The infection has gone but now have severe cough that made me insomniac. How can severe cough be managed?
A:Any throat infection by eighth month of pregnancy generally does not cause any problem with the pregnancy. The duration of antibiotic may not be sufficient. You may have to drink a lot of water (and, other fluids) in order to keep the throat wet. You have to consult a doctor. After consulting a doctor, a simple cough suppressant for a few nights also will be in order.
