Q: My Father (age 69 years) had a brain stroke 6 years resulting into paralysis of his right side, due to high blood pressure. Over a period of time he recovered to a large extent. But recently he got another stroke due to low BP and low sugar. Doctors have tried their level best but my father has gone into coma. We were informed that he would last for 6 - 8 hours but he did so for more than 117 hours (almost 5 days). Only miracles can save him is what the doctors say. What do we do?

A:Please understand that your father now requires quality nursing care, nutrition and prevention of infection. He should continue the prescribed medications given at the time of discharge. You must appreciate that quality of neurological revival and meaningful recovery are factors, which need to be considered by the family.
