How can I improve my chances of conception at 42 years?
Q: I am a 42 years old professional woman. I married for the second time. I have been trying to conceive for the past 6 months but no luck. I menstruate regularly with a 28-30 day cycle, lasting 4 to 5 days. I also have egg-white like discharge in mid- cycle. Two months ago my periods were delayed by 4 days. I took a home pregnancy test which showed a very faint positive result. However I started bleeding the next day. My doctor thought it could have been an early miscarriage and gave me a shot of Rhogam as I am Rh-ve. Was there any way I could have confirmed the pregnancy at that time? What should I do to prevent this from happening again? What can I do to test my fertility status and improve my chances of conception? My husband has 2 children from the previous marriage, he is willing to try naturally with me and is happy for me to have any corrective treatment. He does not wish to get involved in any treatments himself.
A:At 42 yrears the egg quality goes down and yours needs to be seenanalysed. Also if you don't get pregnant., Ggo for IVF, which has a better success at your age. In case the egg has aged, then a donor egg could be required.
