High BP in pregnancy

Q: I have a son who is now three years of age. We would now like to go in for a second child. However, during the first pregnancy, my wifes blood pressure shot up from day one. She had to quit her job and had to rest for the entire nine months. Infact, inspite of the medication for controlling her blood pressure, she had to be hospitalised once in the fourth month of her pregnancy. Even after the delivery of the child, her blood pressure continued to be on a higher side and is now on medication to control the same. With this background, we are not too sure whether we should go for a second child. Will she face the same problems which she faced earlier if we decide to go ahead with the second child.

A:The problem will, most probably, recur during the next pregnancy. It will become more severe as the age at the time of pregnancy increases. So it is better to go for pregnancy at the earliest.
