Fatty liver and renal cyst

Q: I have been diagnosed with a fatty liver and renal cyst. This was as a result of a sonography conducted due to high SGPT/SGOT levels in the blood. I feel pain in the lower right abdomen. What does it mean and what are the consequences? What should be the treatment for this condition?

A:You have a body mass index of 25.4. The normal upper limit is 24.9. In other words, you are overweight. In benign fatty liver, GPT (ALT) is slightly higher than GOT (AST). Physical exercise and reduced calorie intake should solve the problem. The pain you have is unrelated to fatty liver. In cases of obesity -associated fatty liver, it can progress slowly to non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
