Q: Where are the centres for cryopexy operation for detachment of retina?What is the cost of such an operation? How long is the hospitalisation ?

A:Cryopexy when done alone is for retinal tears and costs approx. Rs.4000/ and when it is a part of a much longer retinal detachment surgery, the surgical costs including hospitalisation are approx. Rs.18,000/. The surgery is done at our centre and you can contact me for the same. The other prominent centres are L.V.P. Eye Institute (Hyderabad)and Sankra Nethralaya (Chennai). Hospitalisation is usually for 1-2 days.
