Does the eye power keep increasing over the years?
Q: I am having problems with my power which tends to increase every year. I started with a meagre -1.00 which has now shot up to -4.00 during a span of around 7 years. My question is whether this increase will continue forever or will it stop at a certain age? If it continues like this, what is the remedy for keeping a check on it?
A:Myopia tends to be progressive upto the age of 20-21 years in many people, when the refraction finally stabilises. Good posture while reading and working on the computer, good illumination help to keep the eyes healthy. There is no specific treatment available for progressive myopia.
