Does having a uterine fibroid prevent a normal delivery?
Q: My wife, aged 32 years, is expecting our second child. The gynaecologist says that since there is a fibroid in the uterine wall, this will prevent the baby’s head from fixing and hence prevent a normal delivery. Can you suggest ways such that we do have a normal delivery, as my wife is very apprehensive about c-section?
A:In case Ultrasound shows the fibroid to be so big that it comes on the way of baby's passage through the birth canal, then surgery is recommended, otherwise, head in a second gravida can get engaged even in labour and you said your wife is 4 weeks from the due date. So one should in that scenario, wait and watch.
