Does abortion lead to infertility?
Q: I had an abortion more than a month ago but I still not got my periods . Is it something serious? How long should I wait for it? I am scared that in future I might not be able to conceive. Is it true that after an abortion it becomes difficult to conceive? Do I need any tests for confirmation?
A:Sometimes it takes 4-6 weeks for periods to regularise. If you are concerned / tense about it, get an ultrasound evaluation done. An abortion has certain risk of causing secondary infertility. But if proper care has been taken during and post-abortion (disposable sets, cannula, antibiotics), the risk is minimal.
