Do I really need to wear glasses?
Q: I am a 19 years old male. I feel irritation in my eyes. My spherical number is -0.5 and cylindrical number is 0.75. The doctor told me to wear glasses only at the time of studying. What exactly should I do? I am a student and I have to study a lot. I feel pain in my eyes when I concentrate on something. Is my cylindrical number safe?
A:As you are only slightly myopic, you may not wear glasses at all if you can see reasonably well. However, if you get headaches if you read without glasses then you should wear them. Cylindrical power is also not much and is safe. Only thing I would recommend that don't study in poor light and also don't hold your books very close to your face. Wash your eyes with clean water from time to time.
