Do I need to undergo surgery for a squint?
Q: I am a 20 years old student have squint of 29 prisms in both eyes with left eye orienting upwards. Is it necessary to undergo a surgery? Can squint be completely cured, if operated? How much does it cost? Is there any need for laser surgery?
A:Squint can be corrected surgically but first any specialist would like to know, what has caused the squint in the first place & what is the current vision in each eye is. If the vision is poor in one eye, then eye may squint again after surgery. Cost of surgery can vary from free in some institutions to more than 50 thousand rupees.
No laser is likely for this but temporary correction can be achieved by botulinum toxin injection into the affected eye muscle.
