Do I need to take another Susten injection?

Q: I am a 31 years old female into my sixth month of pregnancy. Two weeks back, I went to the doctor to confirm it as I had missed periods. The doctor confirmed it and gave me Susten (100 mg) injection. After five days, I took another injection. I have another dose due in 3 days. After taking the injection, I have started vomiting especially in the morning, feel dizzy all day, get anxious about unnecessary things and have frequent urination. I had a myomectomy last year to remove a uterine fibroid which was causing problems in conceiving. Do I need to take Susten injection?

A:Perhaps you do not need the susten injections. You can take a mild antiemetic for 3-7 days (metoclopropamide) and small frequent low-fat low spice meals. Please get checked for urine infection by a urine routine and culture test. If there is evidence of infection, it will need to be treated. Pregnancy after a myomectomy is usually successful in over 80% cases and normal labour is allowed when there are no problems like a big baby, small pelvis, poor contractions or fetal problems following start of labour. There may be a slightly higher risk for caesarean section as compared to a normal pregnancy.
