Do high insulin levels interfere with conception?
Q: Does insulin have any effect on conception? I don't have a child, in spite of trying for the last 6 years. When I consulted the doctor, they took an insulin test and mentioned that my insulin level is high, which is preventing my egg to grow. Will this interfere with conception? What measures should I take to reduce my insulin levels?
A:A condition called Insulin Resistant Syndrome in which insulin levels are high does create difficulty in conception. But simple measures like exercise, weight loss and certain drugs do help in majority of patients. Stress reduction is also an important part of the treatment. It is a treatable condition.
