Discontinuing counselling

Q: I am under the counselling for the past six months with the psychotherapist and the sessions are going very well. He says I am suffering from three issues viz. Rejection, Separation and Abondonment throughout my childhood and it is a long process to get it cured. Due to some financial problems I may discontinue. Will it affect me in any way if I stop it in the middle and generally how long is the process?

A:There is no adverse effect of stopping. You can always restart when you have the resources. How long it will take depends on you and the therapist. It is hard for a third person to tell. Sometimes stopping therapy can be like a breath of fresh air and even speed up the process when you restart.
