Q: At the age of 62,male with hypertensive drugs, well control. Slightly over weight, what should be daily dose of vitamin E ?

A:Vitamin E is soluble in fat and hence can be stored in body fat unlike water-soluble vitamins such as vitamin C and B complex group. The daily intake should be in the region of around 15mg per day. Many commercially available products contain much higher amounts of vitamin E ranging from 100 to 600mg that can cause adverse reactions such as diarrhoea, muscle weakness, intestinal cramps etc. It is better to take an antioxidant-vitamin supplement with no more than 25mg of vitamin E such as Vitexid one cap. daily that contains anti-oxidant spirulina and vitamins of B group along with vitamin C and vitamin E 25mg.
