Capsulectomy
Q: My son, now 16 years old, was operated upon for capsulectomy at the age of 8 months. Now he is suffering from nystagmus eyes, squint & aphakia. Please suggest a remedy.
A:Your son had surgery for both the eyes presumably and now best vision after full glass correction will decide about future course. If he can have secondary Intra-ocular lens implant in the eyes, he can lessen his dependence on glasses. Squint can be corrected by Squint surgery but Nystagmus is difficult to treat. All these three conditions as mentioned above, combined usually do not have a good recovery of vision as Amblyopia or lazy eye occurs. Kindly show to your eye surgeon or you can come to me for assessment & then the chances of vision recovery can be discussed.
