Can treatment of malaria interfere with conception?
Q: I went to Kenya last month and have been taking the Lariam malaria tablets. I went to Mombasa 5 nights, Masai Mara 2 nights and Nairobi for 14 nights. I arrived the UK this month and have stopped using the malaria tablets. However, I would like to conceive next month. Will there be any problem in conception, keeping in mind the medications I have been taking?
A:Since, you have already stopped the malaria tablets and are planning to conceive next month, there will not be any problem of adverse effects on the fetus.
