Can Primolut be taken while breastfeeding?
Q: I am a 28 years old female and have a 5 month old baby. My periods started three months after delivery. I want to delay my next period by some days as I plan to visit a temple. I have been asked to take Primolut 5 mg thrice daily . I wanted to know if taking this tablet is safe for my baby as I am breast feeding.
A:Your concern is valid. yes it may adversely affect breastfeeding. Your baby is 5 months old and it would be wise to exclusively breastfeed him till the age of 6 months. This means nothing other than breastmilk needs to be given to the baby, not even water. start other feeds from the age of 6 months upwards- semi solids may be started - soft foods like suji ki kheer, mashed banana etc.
