Can ovulation status be known by measuring the basal body temperature?

Q: I have been diagnosed with PCO/PCOS on my CD6 blood work. I am taking my basal body temperature (BBT), which shows a clear shift of temp on CD13-CD15 and remains high for another 14-16 days before my menses come. I have also had a folliculometry (ultrasound from CD9-CD17) which shows I have ovulated on CD16 and the measurement was 12 mm and then 14 mm then at last 16 mm. Do you think instead of having PCOS I am ovulating on my own? Can I rely on BBT and folliculometry?

A:BBT is very unreliable. Please get ovulation kits which are easily available outside India. I do not know how it is where you are. Once you know whether you are ovulating or not by urine ovulation kits or day 23 progesterone levels, all other blood tests in PCOS are unnecessary.
