Can one lose sight after Lasik surgery?
Q: One of my friends son lost the vision of one eye during the Lasik operation for correction of his number by one of the reputed eye specialists. What is the remedy?
A:It is very rare to "lose" sight from Lasik surgery, the usual cause being infection or a severe complication during the procedure. The cause of the vision loss has not been mentioned in the query. If a corneal infection develops in the eye following Lasik, once it has been controlled, a corneal transplant surgery will restore sight to this eye. Other extremely rare causes include central retinal artery occlusion, where the blood flow to the retina gets damaged. This is an irreversible process.
