Can my cousin's eyesight improve?
Q: My 15 years old cousins eye sight is L 13 and R 16. Which is the safest and most effective surgical method to improve his eye sight? He says that without spectacles he is not able to see objects placed beyond 5-6 feet. What should he do?
A:Wearing glasses or contact lenses is the most effective method to improve sight at this age. Lasik surgery can only be considered if – the power is stable for one year and the age is 18 years or more. Hence, this does not seem to be possible at this time. The focus of his eyes is at 5-6 feet, hence anything beyond this range will be out of focus. This is absolutely normal (and follows the law of physics).
