Can I conceive normally or with in vitro fertilisation (IVF)?

Q: I am a 30 years old woman who conceived for the first time through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) after 6.5 years of marriage. At 4.5 months of pregnancy, the amniotic fluid got discharged and after a month I had an induced abortion due to complications. I was suffering from endometriosis. Is there any chance to conceive normally or through intrauterine insemination (IUI) or through IVF again? After abortion I have been advised to take Cabgolin for 2 days due to heaviness and pain in my breasts. Although there is some relief but I am afraid if the lumps that I feel in the breast will dissolve or not? Should I go for some further checkups?

A:You need to wait for a year before planning next baby. While waiting you can take treatment for the endometriosis, with progesterone treatment or Danazol, or GnRH analogues depending on which treatment suits you based on side effects, severity of the disease, symptoms and what you can afford to spend. The progesterone is cheap, but can sometimes cause bloating, acne and headaches. The Danazol is effective but expensive and in some cases cause acne, hair growth and male features. The GnRH is very effective, but most expensive and in some cases can cause hot flushes and bone loss. All these stop, if they occur, once treatment stops.

If endometriosis is mild - natural conception / or egg formation with drugs can be tried. If moderate to severe, may need assisted reproduction with IUI and /IVF if still present after treatment.
