Can Gestin and Duphaston be taken simultaneously?
Q: My 33 years old wife is in her 10th week of pregnancy. Before this, she had 2 abortions, as we didn't want a baby at that time. The doctor has prescribed her Gestin twice a day (from second month onwards), which she is taking for the last three weeks. Two weeks back, she fell down at home. Her ultrasound showed small 5.6 x 4.0 mm subchorionic collection. Our doctor asked us to repeat the same after two weeks. We got it repeated and the result showed that it increased to 33.4 X 8 mm but organised. Now, the doctor has prescribed Duphaston twice a day for a month along with Gestin. She doesn't have any other problem related to hormones. She started taking Duphaston for the last three days. I checked Internet, where I found that Gestin and Duphaston are same. Can Gestin and Duphaston be taken simultaneously?
A:You need to take only one- now there are better micronized preparations available- but these maybe more expensive, can also be taken by vaginal route , if oral prep is causing problems. Susten is the name. she may also need to take inj HCG 5000 units weekly till 14-16 weeks, AND HAVE FOLLOW UP SCAN 3/4 WEEKLY TO CHECK SIZE OF BLOOD COLLECTION.
