Can contact lenses cause blurred vision?

Q: I am a 27 years old female. I have lately started wearing contact lenses. Everything is fine but my vision becomes blurred when I work on the computer. Is this normal?

A:Contact lenses do partially inhibit gas exchange (O2 & CO2) between cornea and the atmosphere. If the vision goes blurred after so many hours of wearing the lenses, you should take out the lenses and wear spectacles for about half an hour or so, and then wear your contact lenses again. This will also depend on the environment you are working in. Remember that computers also generate heat and subsequently can add to dry eye problems. If these measures don’t make things better, you should see the eye specialist again.
