Can chronic eye allergy change eye power?
Q: I am a 22 years old boy experiencing burning sensation in my eyes for the past five months. My power for both the eyes is -2. Does chronic eye allergy lead to changes in eye power?
A:Generally speaking chronic eye allergy does not lead to a change in power. However, a group of patients who have Keratoconus (a progressive condition in which the power of the eyes continues to increase) are associated with chronic allergy in the eyes. This allergy must be treated alongside the keratoconus.
