Can a diabetic patient take milk and other dairy products?
Q: I am a diabetic patient and the sugar level after meals is 209 mg/dl. My triglyceride is 431 mg/dl and cholesterol 231 mg/dl. Can I take unsweetened milk and other dairy products like yoghurt, cheese etc.?
A:You can take dairy products like milk and yoghurt but avoid fatty products like butter, cheese, ghee etc. It will be even better if you can use low fat milk or skimmed milk. In case low fat milk is not available, make sure to remove the cream or 'malai' from the top.
