Can a cord wrapped around a baby’s neck cause death?
Q: Can a cord wrapped around a baby's neck or anywhere else hurt the baby during delivery. Can fetal death be a possible consequence of cord wrapped around the baby?
A:A single loose loop of cord around the fetal neck usually does not cause fetal distress but if there is more than one loop or the loop is very tight it can cause fetal distress during delivery, which can be, picked up on the fetal monitor. If there is no monitoring and fetal distress goes unnoticed then it can sometimes cause fetal death.
